Grey Goose
History
Created in 1997 by Sidney Frank and François Thibault, Grey Goose revolutionized the premium vodka market. The brand was developed with the specific intention of creating a luxury vodka for the American market, challenging the perception that the finest vodkas could only come from Russia or Poland. The founders chose France for its culinary tradition and reputation for excellence in luxury goods.
Production Process
Produced in Picardy, France, using single-origin soft winter wheat from the fertile Beauce region, known as the breadbasket of France. The wheat undergoes a five-step distillation process in temperature-controlled conditions. The water used comes from natural limestone springs in Gensac-la-Pallue, filtered through champagne limestone for purity. Each batch is personally taste-tested by the Maître de Chai.
Tasting Notes
Distinguished by its exceptionally smooth character with subtle hints of almond and fresh bread. The palate presents a rich, full mouthfeel with gentle sweetness and a hint of black pepper. Notes of citrus zest and fresh cream emerge, leading to a long, satisfying finish with delicate floral nuances. The pristine water source contributes to its remarkable clean taste profile.
Packaging Design
The iconic frosted bottle design was created to embody French luxury and sophistication. Each bottle features the flying goose motif, symbolizing the brands commitment to soaring above ordinary standards. The glass is sourced from Cognac, maintaining the French heritage throughout every aspect of production. The bottle design has remained largely unchanged since its inception.
