Nonino

History

Nonino Amaro was created by the Nonino family in Friuli, Italy in 1992. The recipe was developed by Benito and Giannola Nonino, building upon their family's century-old tradition of grappa making. The Nonino family revolutionized grappa production in the 1970s by introducing single-varietal grappas.

Manufacturing Method

This amaro is produced by macerating herbs, fruits, and roots in Nonino's ÙE® grape distillate (aquavitae from selected grapes). The mixture includes mountain herbs from Friuli's Carnic Alps, along with sweet and bitter orange peels, rhubarb, licorice, and other botanicals. The blend is aged in barriques made from wild cherry, ash, and oak for about 12 months.

Origin

Produced in Percoto, Friuli region of northeastern Italy. The Nonino family maintains complete control over production, from the selection of raw materials to distillation and aging.
