History
Castellare di Castellina was established in 1968 by Paolo Panerai, combining four estates in the Chianti Classico region. The estate is known for preserving indigenous grape varieties and traditional winemaking methods, while also being a pioneer in modern quality standards.
Manufacturing Method
Produced primarily from Sangiovese with small amounts of other local varieties. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in French oak barrels. The estate follows organic farming practices.
Region of Origin
Chianti Classico DOCG, Tuscany, Italy. Vineyards are situated at high elevation on galestro and alberese soils typical of the region.
Taste Profile
The 2021 vintage shows bright red cherry and wild berry notes, with typical Sangiovese character. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity and fine tannins. Displays floral notes, particularly violet, with hints of Mediterranean herbs and subtle spice.
