2010 Chateau Gruaud Larose St. Julien Bordeaux

History

Château Gruaud Larose is a Second Growth estate from the 1855 Classification. The property dates to 1725 and was initially owned by the Gruaud and Larose families. The estate has seen various owners through its history but has maintained its reputation for producing classic Saint-Julien wines.

Manufacturing Method

Traditional Bordeaux vinification methods are employed. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled vats, followed by aging in French oak barrels (about 50% new) for 18-24 months. The 2010 vintage represents a particularly excellent year in Bordeaux.

Saint-Julien appellation, Bordeaux, France. The vineyard sits on deep gravel soils characteristic of the Médoc peninsula.

Taste Profile

The 2010 vintage is considered exceptional, showing concentrated black fruits, tobacco, and graphite notes. Full-bodied with rich tannins, showing classical cedar and leather notes typical of aged Bordeaux. Complex with excellent structure and length.
