2019 Tenuta Monchiero Barolo, Barolo
History
The Monchiero family has been producing wines in Piedmont since the early 1950s. Their estate represents traditional Barolo winemaking, passing down knowledge through generations. The family maintains relatively small production to ensure quality control and expression of their terroir.
Manufacturing Method
Made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, harvested by hand. Traditional fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by extended maceration. The wine ages for at least 38 months, including 24 months in large Slavonian oak casks, as per Barolo DOCG regulations.
Region of Origin
Barolo DOCG, Piedmont, Italy. Vineyards are situated in the prestigious Barolo zone, with calcareous-clay soils typical of the region.
Taste Profile
The 2019 vintage shows classic Barolo characteristics with aromas of rose petals, tar, and dried cherries. The palate presents red fruit, truffle, and leather notes, with firm but elegant tannins. Medium to full-bodied with excellent structure and aging potential.
